Noob's question regarding sieve size setting

Its my first time try to mine digital coins. Sorry for my stupid newbie questions

1. my laptop installed memory ram is 16G. i7 2.3GHz core. How much shall I set sieve size at 2M or ?

2.how can I set the sieve size?
