Ok, I now have about 58 coins, although they're all from the first 24 hours. I haven't gotten anything since then and its been days. I think I might just shut it off because this is costing me electricity for almost nothing.

Same here: Primespersec is much higher on the servers. But most of the blocks I find with my i5 Notebook  :o

11 Blocks on my Notebook i5 2,5 Ghz, Win 7
8 Blocks on my workstation Xeon Quadcore 3 Ghz, Win 7
0  Blocks on my server 2x Xeon Quadcore 2,5 Ghz, Ubuntu (on this server is still the original release running)
3 Blocks on my server 2x Xeon Quadcore 2,5 Ghz, Ubuntu
3 Blocks on my server 2x Xeon Quadcore 2,5 Ghz, Ubuntu
3 Blocks on my server 2x Xeon Quadcore 2,7 Ghz, Win 7 (was down 30h because of an hardware problem)
2  Blocks on my really crappy P4 running on one core, Win 7

I found 3 blocks on the first day. Not a single block since then. Am I lucky or what? Mining 16+ hours a day with a quadcore i5 3.1GHz.

By now I have digged enough through the source code to be able to say that primes per second means nothing. In fact, it's actually kind of bad since it makes people believe that a higher number is actually better. Even worse is that the PoW seems to be much more luck based than scrypt or sha256, although I don't know the reason for that yet. Maybe it's because the difficulty is still relatively low.

I read about how some people decreased the sieve size in the source code which boosted their pps by a factor of 2-10. Nevertheless, it increases the risk of finding 'fake primes'. 1000pps with 90% bad numbers is worse than 150pps with 20% bad numbers. At least thats how I understand it currently.

it seems something wrong with the network, nobody finds any block. difficulty is still 7, it means that we could find block by days.

The difficulty increase is about to be at 8. I got some details on this and it would mean that the actually "difficulty" of finding a block at difficulty 8 is 30 times more difficult than finding one at the starting difficulty of 7.

I solved one block within the first 3 hours. Since then, I've been running 4 computers with pps rates of ~150, ~150, ~200, ~350.

I have not gotten a single block since and have been mining for over 48 hours. I got really excited at first but I only have 15.77 XPM to show for it. This isn't so much boasting so much as disappointment.

Did I just get really lucky the first time around?

I'd keep it running if I were you. Did you update to the v.0.1.1 client? You never know, you might hit a lucky streak and get a few blocks in one day  :)

Hi kuriboh,

There is really no good metric right now to find out how often you should be finding blocks, there is a whole lot of luck involved. Some optimized releases show a higher primespersec rating but are actually less efficient at finding blocks. Do you know which version you downloaded?

I turned my miner off. I haven't gotten anything since July 10th. I think I'll just buy some instead when I get the money.
